Orioles Game

by The Ron Howard Group
I went to the Orioles game on Saturday for a friends birthday and I was highly impressed.  A lot of people were out for a game, of course it was against the Nationals so there was probably a good mix of both team's fans.  The Orioles are still above .500, the fans are out having a great time and the deals for these games are great.  Tuesdays are $8 upper reserve tickets and Thursdays are Bleachers and Boogs night, which for $15 bucks you get a Eutaw St bleacher seat and a Boog's sandwich.  At these prices it is a great night out or afternoon that isn't going to break the bank.

Sunday May 18th Grand Opening of new Coffee shop on Canton Square

by The Ron Howard Group

Grand Opening of the new Daily Grind in the old firehouse on O'Donnell Square!

Nicknamed the Firehouse Grind, this funky new coffee shop is quite the unusual watering hole....featuring the famed "Blues Brothers" outside sipping coffee, and the soon-to-be-named fireman sliding down the original firepole.

It's a great place to meet friends, business associates, or your workout partner for a 0-calorie, sugar free Latte (plus skim milk or soy), or a yummy piece of Junior's New York Cheesecake, Dangerously Delicious Pie, or Moxley's Super Premium Ice Cream. Lots of great salads and sandwiches too. The Grind offers "free wireless internet" and they're even open late for dessert, ice cream, or a cup of Joe. Check out website www.firehousegrind.com

We had a happy hour last week at a new place "Mustang Alley". Mustang Alley’s concept is one that is unique to the Baltimore City area.

With twelve lanes of bowling, a chef inspired and prepared menu, a full service bar featuring an elegant wine and cocktail list, almost 1,000 inches of High Definition televisions, and a fully equipped conference party room, Mustang Alley’s is Baltimore’s newest upscale event and dining facility.

So, bowl a round, watch a game, and enjoy your favorite food and drink. They’re not contradicting themselves when theu say, "dress up and let your hair down," we’ve managed to roll sophistication on its fun side.

Check out our happy hour video and check out their website.

Baltimore Rec Leagues

by The Ron Howard Group
With spring comes the begining of the rec league season.  Almost every night of the week you can now find people out playing softball, kickball, football, floor hockey, tennis, broomball, and wiffle ball.  They play in Patterson Park, Riverside Park, Joseph Lee Park and hopefully in the near future Swann Park again.  This is a great way to get out meet some new people, enjoy the outside and lets not forget the bars after the games.  So go out and start your own team or if you want you can always just say you are interested in playing and get placed on a team.  Hope to see everyone out there! Spring is Upon us..

by The Ron Howard Group
Now what is there to do?  Well for starters there are still tons of Orioles' tickets to be had and seeing as after the first month of the season they are still tied for first place now is as good a time as ever!  Also we are just about 2 weeks away from Preakness, first will be the Preakness Parade on May 10th at 11am downtown on Pratt St. Then the main event on May 17th, which is always a good time.  Now is the time to get out there and adventure around the city. The weather is still nice for now but soon it will be hot and humid and everyone will be seeking shelter.  Also if you ever venture out into Baltimore County, Oregon Ridge is a great place to go for a hike.  They have short trails and long trails, a beach and a nature center so you can get a little education while you enjoy the outdoors.

Flying around Chesapeake Bay

by The Ron Howard Group

Me and my friend (we're both pilots) flew around the Chesapeake Bay yesterday and took some great video. Click to check it out...

Chesapeake Bay Facts & Figures

Ever wondered how big the Chesapeake Bay is? Or how many states are in the Bay watershed? Learn all about the Bay by reading these interesting facts and figures.

The Chesapeak Bay

  • The Chesapeake Bay is an estuary, a body of water where fresh and salt water mix. It is the largest of 130 estuaries in the United States.
  • The Bay is about 200 miles long, stretching from Havre de Grace, Maryland, to Virginia Beach, Virginia.
  • The Bay's width ranges from 3.4 miles near Aberdeen, Maryland, to 35 miles near the mouth of the Potomac River.
  • The Bay holds more than 15 trillion gallons of water.
  • The Bay is surprisingly shallow. Its average depth, including all tidal tributaries, is about 21 feet. A person who is 6 feet tall could wade through over 700,000 acres of the Bay and never get his or her hat wet.
  • A few deep troughs running along much of the Bay's length reach up to 174 feet in depth. These troughs are believed to be remnants of the ancient Susquehanna River.
  • Two of the five major North Atlantic ports in the United States—Baltimore and Hampton Roads—are on the Bay.
  • The Bay and its tidal tributaries have around 11,684 miles of shoreline—more than the entire U.S. West Coast.
  • The surface area of the Bay and its tidal tributaries is 125 billion square feet, or around 4,480 square miles.
  • The Bay supports more than 3,600 species of plants, fish and animals, including 348 species of finfish, 173 species of shellfish and over 2,700 plant species.
  • The Chesapeake is home to 29 species of waterfowl and is a major resting ground along the Atlantic Flyway. Every year, one million waterfowl winter in the Bay region.
  • The Chesapeake is a commercial and recreational resource for the more than 16 million people who live in its watershed.
  • The Bay produces about 500 million pounds of seafood per year.

Hide the Rum... Here come the Pyrates!

by The Ron Howard Group

Hide the Rum... Here come the Pyrates! Starting at 6 pm on Saturday, April 19, 2008 pyrates from near and far will be fixin to raid and plunder the the public houses in what was once the rowdy privateer hangout in the bawdy port of Fells Point in Baltimore, Maryland.

Locals will shudder in fear as they shut their windows, lock their doors, and hide from the piratical antics of the evening's festivities, but there is nowhere left to hide... the raid has been extended to be an all-day pyrate extravaganza!

There will be merchants, street performers, children's activities, living history exhibits, and swordplay within the heart of Fells Point located in Broadway Square (next to the water, easily accessible via Baltimore's Water Taxi service).

This year's event commemorates the 4th Annual Baltimore Pyrate Invasion.  So shake a peg leg and be prepared to join the invasion if you dare...
if this is your first year, we promise you will be
HOOKED!

Be ready to show off your pyrate finery, dust off your tankards, and stick a fresh feather in your tricorn, and be prepared to
invade....CLICK FOR MORE INFO.
